NORTH BARRIE NEIGHBOURHOODS

Approximately 2100 homes were built and sold in these neighbourhoods which were bounded by Bayfield Street and Geogian Mall on the west, the Barrie/Springwater boundary & Little Lake EP lands on the north, with Cundles Road, St. Vincent Street and Livia Herman Way forming the southern boundary.

Several Developers serviced this large tract of land wich has been acquired by the City of Barrie in 1984 through annexation from Vespra Township (now Springwater).  This tract was divided into several parcels or Registered Plans and subsequently into Plans of Subdivision.  Although homes were sometimes built by the Developers, most of the building lots were sold in blocks to the larger new home builders.

Each Plan of Subdivision was typically named by the Developer or a major Builder who purchased a large block of building lots.  Some of the names given to these neighbourhoods which have been built since 1999 include:

Lion's Gate

Estates of Little Lake
