ST.VINCENT ESTATES

Overview:

St. Vincent Estates is a neighbourhood of detached bungalows and 2-storey homes. The majority of the houses in this community were built by Firstview Homes who created many neighbourhoods throughout the city over a period of 15 years. Darcel Homes and several other home builders were also active in this neighbourhood during its development phase between 1999 and 2005.

Location:

St. Vincent Estates is bordered by Livingstone Street East on the north and Livia Herman Way to the south. To the east it sides onto St. Vincent Street and the west boundary are the homes along Stanley Street (between Livingstone Street East and Livia Herman Way).

Schools:

  1. Terry Fox Public Elementary is located on the north side of Livingstone Street East between Stanley Street and Michael Crescent.
  2. Sister Catherine Donnelly Catholic Elementary is located on the south side of Hanmer Street East at Palmer Drive.
  3. Eastview Secondary School located at Grove Street and Nelson Street is the public High School
  4. St. Joseph's at the junction of Cundles Street East and Livingstone Street East is the Catholic High School.

Parks:

There are two parks in the area:

Cartwright
Cartwright Park is located 2 blocks south of Livia Herman Way and provides 3.45 acres of open space for children to play happily.

East Bayfield
East Bayfield Park with its 23.6 acres of playground and sports field is located between Terry Fox School on the north side of Livingstone Street East and Sister Catherine Donnelly School on the south side of Hanmer Street East. Together these two parks ensure there is ample sports and play areas in this family oriented neighbourhood.

Shopping & Service:

The "Golden Mile" has been another reason St. Vincent Estates has been a sought after neighbourhood. Barrie's Golden Mile is defined as Bayfield Street north of Highway 400 to the Springwater boundary (just north of Hanmer Street). The Golden Mile is home to three indoor shopping centres (Bayfield Mall, Kozlov Centre, and the recently expanded Georgian Mall) as well as many major "Big Box" retailers, major grocery chains, a full-service home building centre, and boutiques with every amenity at your doorstep.

Community Centre:

The East Bayfield Community Centre is a full service facility complete with indoor pool, abundant recreation programs and a complete gym. Walking distance from any point in the St. Vincent Estates neighbourhood, this is yet another key reason home buyers continue choosing to live in St. Vincent Estates.

The Barrie Country Club:

Established in 1913 and initially located on the site of the current Sunnidale Park, this prestigious Golf and Country Club has long been a highly regarded private golf course. Located at the junction of Hanmer Street East and St. Vincent Street, the Barrie County Club is nestled along the northern fringe of the City of Barrie. Within comfortable walking distance from your home in St. Vincent Estates, members of the Barrie Country Club join for the enjoyment of the game, comraderie, and excellent business connections.

The Barrie Sports Dome:

After five years of planning, this joint venture with the City of Barrie brought one of the longest domes in Canada to north Barrie. At 350 feet, the Barrie Sports Dome has been designed to accommodate two events simulaneously on its artificial turf including a golf driving range and soccer field. In Summary:

Due to its central location just four to six blocks from Georgian Mall, major grocery stores, boutiques, coffee shops, restaurants, and more, St. Vincent Estates remains a very popular destination for home buyers. With the Barrie Country Club, great schools, the Sports Dome, and East Bayfield Community Centre just steps away, there is something for everyone in the family. And finally, part and full-time employment opportunities in the retail and hospitality sector along the Golden Mile further contribute to the popularity of this family geared and oriented neighbourhood.
